The Russian designed reactor will be built at the future moon base, the International Lunar Research Station (ILRS), which is scheduled for 2036. The reactor will be deployed on the moon without any human interaction. No mention or details of how this will be done from either China or Russia1. The base station is said to break ground with the launch of China’s Chang’e-8 mission, which will launch in the year 2028, landing the first Chinese national on the lunar surface. The ILRS is comprised of 17 different countries, which was originally announced back in 2021 from both China and Russia. The program, comprised of three in total moon bases, is said to be completed around the year 2050.
