Summary

The company behind ChatGPT, OpenAI, has launched an AI agent called Codex geared towards software engineers.
Codex runs on its own special version of ChatGPT called codex-1. This version is based on a version of ChatGPT o3 model, but has been optimized for coding.
You must have a pro subscription to use, which is $200/month. Eventually, access to the tool may be expanded to all paid subscribers1.
